1. Speaking of Quicksand, If you’re a fan–as I am–of bands fronted by Walter Schreifels, you should hit the music section of fansite unitedbywalter.com. There are a couple of rare Quicksand mp3’s (you have to kind of sort through to find them, a lot of the linked files are missing) and a whole bunch of really excellent unreleased Rival Schools tunes. This stuff will be playing constantly for a few months at least.

Also check out Walter’s latest project Walking Concert. The mp3 available from the site is pretty damn good.

2. My favorite thing on the entire stupid internet right now is Questionable Content. A humble yet totally rad web comic about twentyish indie-rock kids by Jeph Jacques. Start at the beginning and watch the awesome progression of Jeph’s artwork. I was a twentyish indie-rock kid once... Now I am old.

3. Speaking of obscure mp3’s, Strange Reaction and Something I Learned Today are a couple of outstanding mp3 blogs both featuring some great rare and forgotten punk, HC and indie rock. Something I Learned Today even posted recently about my long time favs Swiz. Let’s get Swwwiz-ay alright-ay…How’s everybody doin’. (links via Neckdeep)

4. On the design tip, check out 50 Years of Braun Design. It’s a testament to quality design that things they were producing the 50’s and 60’s look like they would be perfectly functional and not at all out of place on current department store shelves. (link via WDIK)

5. While I continue to struggle with spotty motivation and fading interest in designing and or writing for the web, it’s nice to see that at least Baby Daughter is certain of what she wants to do. Yesterday she announced that she wants to be a: Veterinarian, architect, ballerina, rock star, furniture keeper (?), business person, artist and painter.
