If you’re in your early thirties and care at all about rock, chances are listening to Led Zeppelin takes you back to early youth when hearing the opening riff to “Black Dog” for the first time was like splitting the atom. When feeling glum due to shitty weather, thinking back to happier, simpler days (like when Zeppelin seemed new and exciting) sometimes provides a lift. So go ahead and bust out your Zeppelin I-IV cassettes and get freakin’ happy.
I’ve been listening non-stop for days now and I feel great! I haven’t once had the desire to drive headlong into the biggest snow bank I can find. These days it’s taken for granted, even cliché to say that Jimmy Page is a guitar god, but man...the heavy-ass groove of “How Many More Times” will bring out the sun.
Think I’m kidding? Give it a try and you’ll see.
Important disclaimers: There is some concern as to what might happen once you get sick of everything involving Robert Plant in any way. It might be like settling permanently into that feeling that comes around 4pm or so when the day seems never ending and the caffeine has worn off and your eyes feel like burning hot paperweights in your head. That remains to be seen. For now...steal away Rosie, you little vixen, steal away.
Also, this will not work if you hate Led Zeppelin.
