The Prov
downtown

It’s interesting how this nifty technique can make a lousy photo, half heartedly taken out a car window while sitting in traffic, by a lousy photographer, look almost decent.

Driving by this spot reminded me that it wasn’t always so well groomed. I remember, years ago, there was a pile of cinder blocks where the foremost garden bed is. One night, walking home after a show at (sadly and deeply missed) Club Babyhead, the WBRU (a lame local radio station) van drove past us. My friend Steve grabbed a cinder block, wielded it over his head and started chasing the van down the street screaming.

Imagine the scene: A brightly colored radio station promo van being chased down by a 6’ 3”, skinny-ass, screaming geek (I really mean all that in a complimentary way) with a huge brick.

When he threw the block, it landed about three feet in front of him, and the van drove off unfazed. I don't think the driver even noticed. It was hilarious.

Providence is a beautiful place.
