24 Hours In New England

24 hours ago I scouted out a sizable dry spot in the parking lot and rode my bike for a good solid half hour. It was the first time I had ridden in too many months, and it didn't go very smoothly, but it felt great to be riding outdoors in a t-shirt with warm sun beating down.

Fast forward to right now today: it's freezing cold and snowing. Again.

The crazy thing is this: I've driven across this country from Providence to Seattle, and I've seen some cool cities and beautiful places. The hills of Tennessee, Fort Worth, Santa Fe, the grand canyon, San Francisco. I loved Seattle. As great (and warm) as some of those places were, there's still nowhere I would rather live than right here in the middle of all this lousy weather. Home, crap, home.
