No Hair Metal Jokes Today
The Station was a haven for cover bands (of which Rhode Island has more per capita than any state in the union) and washed up 80's hair metal bands on tour. I've never been there, but a few months ago the Dead Kennedys were playing and I was going to go until I realized that it was DK without Jello (lame, I guess that's a whole thing).
Last night during the first song of a Great White show the place caught fire and burned down killing more than 50 people. It's a terrible tragedy that begs many questions, most of all why the hell is Great White using pyrotechnics in a tiny club in West Warwick, RI in the year 2003? Sad on so many levels.
Update: the number of casualties from the fire is now upwards of 75. Incomprehensibly tragic.
