A Few Things:

1. To very little fanfare, this unassuming little site turns one year old today. Many thanks to all who have taken the time to stop by and/or leave a comment (forgot to say that when I first posted this).

2. Over at the excellent Ftrain, Paul Ford also reacts to Josh Allen’s powerful I Started Writing. He presents his very interesting list of personal standards for Ftrain. Points 2 and 13 are of particular resonance to my recent thinking about where I want to go with Motor Skills:

2. I study work I admire, and strive make Ftrain something others might study.

13. I do not write about writing or web development unless I have something new to say, or can save someone the trouble of repeating my errors. It is unlikely I have much new to say.

3. My freshman year at RISD I had a 3D Design professor who constantly begged the question, “What is interesting?” At the time I thought he was just kind of bitter and burnt out from years of hearing the uncertain babble of freshman art students, “...like, I Iike it, it like, totally feels like art to me...”. Now, years later I can see his perspective and find that I ask it of myself every time I sit down to type out an entry here.

4. I’ve vastly expanded the “Daily diversions” and “Rock” portions of the links section. This is still just a tiny sampling of what's out there, but maybe it's of interest to some.

5. griff shares the luv once again. Thanks griff, you rock.
